Casalini Libri was established by Mario Casalini in 1958 with the twin purposes of advancing the profile of Italian culture and learning across the globe, as well as providing a first-class bibliographic search and supply service for academic libraries. We are now an international bibliographic agency and leading supplier of academic publications in print and digital formats to libraries worldwide. Together with sister companies Erasmus and @Cult we provide expert support to libraries in areas such as collection development, cataloguing, and facilitating discovery and access to research publications. Our dedicated services for publishers include promotion, supply and the hosting and distribution of digital content through the Torrossa Digital Library and Bookstore. We believe in communication, co-operation and collaboration to optimize the collective efforts of the international library community. We actively support and engage in innovation and co-operative projects to facilitate participation and open up new opportunities for partnership across the scholarly information sector.
Our mission is to be the point of reference for libraries around the world to source and acquire scholarly publications, contributing to the sharing and dissemination of scientific and humanistic research. We work to identify, catalogue and promote new publications, including those from small cultural entities, while protecting and strengthening the value of linguistic diversity. We draw on our substantial experience in the field to make the most of the possibilities offered by new ways of creating and accessing electronic publishing content, working alongside publishers and libraries to support them through technological and organizational changes.
We believe in the great richness that comes from the diverse cultures, perspectives, languages and disciplines around the world and we are committed to making them widely accessible as quickly as possible, through libraries, museums and institutions in all nations, so that people can rely on verified and comprehensive information as a starting point for new ideas and research that may contribute to democratic, inclusive and sustainable global development.
We value strong relationships with our partners and place the specific needs of individual libraries and publishers at the heart of our services to ensure each receives maximum flexibility, tailored solutions and personalised assistance.
We consider access to knowledge to be a fundamental necessity, at the root of cultural, economic and democratic growth, and are committed to supporting libraries in making access to knowledge as simple, immediate and widespread as possible.
We recognise richness in the variety and uniqueness of scholarly publishing realities across Europe and strive to foster and facilitate broad access to the information created by publishers and preserved by libraries, in its original language.
We endeavour to assist libraries, publishers and the wider research community in meeting the challenges of fast-changing technology and dedicate resources to developing the most innovative services and tools for accessing and using academic content.
We believe in communication and collaboration for the success of our corporate culture and community: we encourage the sharing of corporate values and aim to inspire and nurture the active contribution and participation of all members of our Group.
We pursue and promote the well-being of society and the environment through awareness and action in the library and information industry, as well as being present and active in our corporate reality and local territory.
