Why do many of the world's major national, academic and research libraries entrust our selectors with their collections? With an Approval Plan you can outsource the selection of material for part - or all - of specific collections, based on a detailed collection development profile and annual budget that allow us to select titles for automatic supply pending your final "approval". We can also support you in the creation and development of entirely new collections, working with you to build and expand your holdings in new areas.
Our expertise, resources and connections mean you will:
You will be assisted by our experienced selectors: native speakers and skilled linguists with expert knowledge of their respective fields and countries of reference. The key to the success of our Approval Plans is dialogue and collaboration, from the meticulous formulation to the ongoing review of selection criteria; regular communication with you allows us to constantly check and - if necessary - refine aspects of the Approval Plan to ensure it satisfies your library's needs:

Our advanced technology supports MARC and linked data workflows, and custom-developed tools integrate manual checks with automated functions for high-quality data authority control. Quantitative and detailed reports provide evidence of all modifications, ensuring the utmost transparency and accuracy in your library's records.
Our remote cataloguing solutions provide high‑quality records without the need to ship physical items. Simply share an ISBN or a set of keywords and our expert team will analyse your library’s specific requirements to produce precisely curated bibliographic records.
Supported by advanced technology and expert understanding of cataloguing standards, our workflows encompass both MARC and linked data environments. Automated processes are combined with meticulous manual checks to ensure consistency, reliability and full alignment with your local specifications. You will receive authoritative, personalised cataloguing that saves time, streamlines operations and allows your staff to focus on connecting patrons with the knowledge and resources in your collections.
Linked Data creates a web of information by structuring data using standard identifiers and coding it with semantic meaning in a way that allows machines to understand it, recognise relationships and interlink related data. This makes information more accessible and easier to discover, increasing the chances of otherwise invisible information being discovered, shared and re-used, and allowing you to reach patrons more easily and directly through the world wide web.
BIBFRAME, a data model designed to replace MARC standards, uses linked data to make bibliographic data more useful both within the library community and across the world wide web by organising elements of bibliographical information to identify relationships between resources. This allows search engines to differentiate between a conceptual Work (such as Dante's Divine Comedy) and physical manifestations of the same Work, which may vary in aspects such as year of publication, illustrations, translation and format. By linking and disambiguating information in this way, BIBFRAME allows patrons to navigate seamlessly among resource descriptions and to discover resources serendipitously within your catalogue.
Always at the forefront of innovation for libraries, we work collaboratively with the international library community in defining and developing tools for the practical implementation of BIBFRAME and linked data. Our services for Authority Control and the enrichment, reconciliation and validation of bibliographic information are also available for the management of authority data in a fully BIBFRAME oriented scenario. We are also a founding member and advocate for the SHARE FAMILY, offering tools for the practical implementation of BIBFRAME and linked data created by libraries, for libraries, in a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing.
